Pioneering Tree Surgeons in Surrey and beyond.

WHO WE ARE

We are The Tree House Ltd.

Arborists, first and foremost, and yes, lovers of all things tree!

We are a proud family-owned business hailed for our friendly and professional approach. We pride ourselves on our honest, reliable and cost-effective solutions to all your tree and garden related needs (and of course, desires).

We have been established since 1998 and in that time have built a large and diverse customer base and a very good reputation on a word-of-mouth basis. Opinions and experiences speak far louder than a search engine! You never know who you might find and we’ve heard quite a few unpleasant stories!

Please see our customer testimonials below.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services to suit every tree need, problem or dilemma whatever the weather!

Quotes

We provide free, no-obligation quotes (not estimates!) and will of course arrange them to fit around your own schedule. Please call or email to organize.

TPO Applications

We offer the service of completing all the paperwork to send to the council for protected trees free of charge once our quotation is accepted. It is often far easier for us to do this, as we speak the language of tree and are in conversations with tree officers regularly. We can then organise any site meeting on your behalf.

Our Mantra

No job is too big, small, far or wide. We love trees and believe they make the world a better, kinder and richer place and will always have their best interests at heart.

Crown Lift

With a crown lift we remove the lowest branches leaving a balanced height. Most councils will require a tree to be lifted to 2.5 meters over a footpath and to 5 meters over a public road for vehicular access. People are always surprised by how much light you gain from lifting a tree. We surprise ourselves sometimes.

Crown thin

A crown thin involves the removal of some of the smaller superfluous branches within the crown of the tree, as well as crossing limbs to enable light through the tree. Crown thinning will also lessen the load and the ‘kite effect’ without changing the size or shape of the tree.

Crown reduction

To reduce the crown of a tree means simple that, we reduce the crown of a tree! Without getting too techy, we measure with a percentage to reduce the entire crown, not just the height, leaving you with the same tree, just smaller (and far more couture!) Who knew trees could be so fashionable?

Branch/limb removal

The removal of one or two branches or limbs usually comes about from storm or vehicle damage. We can advise if single or multiple limbs have been affected. Sometimes the removal of a single limb or branch can have huge benefits in terms of light and balance to the tree.

Coppice

To coppice a tree is good practice for woodland and timber harvesting technique (depending on the species of course). The tree is cut to a desired, height usually quite low to ground level, and the re-growth will often be healthy and vigorous!

Felling

The removal of a tree is unfortunately sometimes necessary. Sad though it is, when this is the case, the surrounding area can have sensitive and immovable targets such as houses, sheds, roads etc. We have methods for dismantling trees in such areas so as not to cause harm or damage. We also provide a site clearance service.

Pollard

Often seen in street trees, the pollard is a severe and necessary prune. Not appropriate for all species, pollarding can be an effective use of pruning. Pollarding can also slow root growth down as the tree puts more of its effort into new crown growth. Think of it as a good old-fashioned groom.

Formative Pruning

This will help immature trees form an excellent shape as they grow. It will help the tree resist weakness, and defect, as dead wood and crossing branches are always removed.

Stump Grinding

We can grind and remove the stump of a fallen or felled tree to a desired depth (usually between 200-300mm). We have numerous machines to accommodate most access points.

The ‘root ball’ of the tree will be gone, leaving smaller roots in situ. Unless otherwise agreed, the resulting chip/soil mix will be left in a neat pile on site where there was once a tree. This should be left for a short period to let the ground settle (usually a month or so is ample), if there is any spoil left after settling it can be distributed through the garden as a good composting material or ‘mulch’. We would always need to be alerted to any services that run underneath or near to the stump prior to grinding (gas, electric, water etc.) No-one needs a burst pipe in their life!

Fruit Tree Pruning

Without regular pruning, fruit trees can become a burden, as the fruit gets stuck at the top of the canopy and by the time of harvest, you are last in the queue behind birds, squirrels and maggots for the prized fruit. We believe in equal opportunities.

We tend to prune fruit trees on an annual/biannual basis. Depending on the species and the customers expectation, pruning its normally advised to be undertaken during the dormant period, end of October to early March.

Spur Pruning

Spur pruning is used in established fruit trees and orchards to encourage the weaker fruiting trees to form new ‘spurs’ along the branch structure. As the spur system develops, we thin to get the best fruiting spurs to do their job effectively

Hedge trimming

We are often asked to trim hedges either to maintain the already formal appearance or to encourage a young screen to become the hedge or screen that it is destined to be. Whatever is required, we can help.art.

Dead Wooding

What it says on the tin! Removal of dead wood.

Planting

We can supply all trees, in all shapes and sizes, and plant them in your garden. We can also supply good, well-seasoned manure and wood-chip to lay on the newly planted tree and advise the best watering and general care to help it on its merry way. The planting season is usually form October through to February.

Logs & Woodchip

We can deliver seasoned wood-Chip and logs to your desired location in varying quantities, just ask.

24 Emergency Call Out

We understand that if a tree emergency arises it is not always between the hours of 9-5, therefore we are available on the phone 24-hours a day 7 days a week. We like to think of ourselves as the 5th emergency service.

Leaf Blowing

We will of course remove all leaves and branches from jobs leaving the scene clean and pristine! If you require the service as a stand-alone, we have the ultimate leaf blower!

Lopping & Topping

These are terms often used by unscrupulous characters claiming to be tree surgeons or tree blokes. They will also claim to be able to tarmac your drive, fix your roof and ‘do’ your patio. We are trained arborists and will not use these terms nor claim to do any work we could not offer at a high level. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
